"Fiction is the lie through which we tell the truth." ~ Albert Camus I have a confession to make...(a good one) Greetings and salutations Reader!! I'm just back from CWW (aka Crazy Writing Week, which you can learn more about here ) *cue exhausted gasping for breath* ......wherein I drafted a certain project you shall hear about farther down and was also privileged to be a member of the winning team!!! I can't say I exactly got to an outstanding word count, but it was still an incredible week of discovering writing habits that really work for me as well as planning for the future. Turns out my biggest goals this year are to complete a full-length project (aka MOUNTAIN OF SECRETS!!) and complete the mysterious quest I've been teasing you about 😎 Warning: it involves ghosts... ✨VOTF Anthology Review✨This is the review I promised you for the Author Conservatory's latest anthology, Voices of the Future: Stories of Adventure and Imagination!! Ummm yeah, I did happen to read most of it over Christmas day, but it was SO SO worth it 😄 I found a piece of my heart in every one of these stories. Plus being a voracious MG reader + writer I loved that the genre made up half the anthology 😂 There are 14 stories in there, so this got long and I'll only be picking my top 5 to share with you today...to read my full review you're welcome to visit my Goodreads!
So... this honestly might be my favorite of all the anthologies (tho I haven't read #3 yet) and I highly recommend for anyone who loves heartwarming reads and needs more magic in their day ✨ You can snag yourself a copy here! 😱 COVER REVEAL!! 😍I am pleased (well, actually THRILLED) to participate in the cover reveal for an anthology my amazing friend Jessica B. Brown is getting published in!! I'm pretty stoked for her if you couldn't tell 😉 Isn't it absolutely GORGEOUS??? This anthology is a Christian short story collection featuring nine cozy stories of seeking God in the messy joys of homemaking and family. It contains touching stories from contemporary and historical fiction authors with a mix of different subgenres—all written to the glory of God! Telling from what I've seen of Jessie's story, it's going to be beautiful 💖 Anddd even better, preorders are open now on Amazon and Wild Blue Wonder press's website!! If you get your order in before March, you'll also be snagging yourself an awesome pack of goodies!! Now what are you waiting for?? 🐦⬛ At last...a confession 🐦⬛So, something I know all of you have been waiting for.... I might just be getting published. In a middle-grade anthology. But wait!! Before you start dancing around the room (though you go do that) it's not confirmed. I'm in the middle of the second draft now and it's not submitted, but knowing the anthology I'd say there's a 85% chance of success 💫 Anddd if all goes according to plan, we'll be publishing this August!!! What's the story about? You might ask. In short, it's the tale of a haunted house, a storm, and a 14-year-old fighting for her last chance to get a better life for her family. Also, there's hide-and-seek. We can't forget the hide-and-seek. Or the ghosts. 👻 🎁 My Gift to YouCan you tell a story in 99 words? Here's my attempt... 😜 One Year of Solitude
It’s funny how quickly you go crazy, living every day alone like this. I can talk to myself, make friends with my basketball and call him Epic Sports Premium, dream of home all I want…but it will never be the same. I’ve almost forgotten what it feels like to have someone other than the sky to listen to me. Across the church gym, I watch the other teens laughing, joking, with smiles on their faces. I catch a glimpse of my reflection in the window glass, an opposite to them. At least if I was invisible, I would understand.
I'll see you next month with an update...am I really getting published? 💖 In the meantime, you're always welcome to hit the reply button so we can chat...what are some of your biggest hopes and goals for this year? Any plans to order one of the anthologies? Bye special peeps!!! -Love, Sophia |

"A poet is a liar who always speaks the truth." ~ Jean Cocteau So, What's All This About Getting Published?? Happy March Reader! I hope you survived last month alright...now we're in the final stretch before SUMMERRR. I've had some big things happening in my life like getting braces on, starting to babysit to earn some extra cash, and completing my second debate at homeschool co-op!! So yeah, lots going on there. 😄 On the writing side, after all the drama and excitement of last month...
"I have found that the happiest people are those who do the most for others." ~ Booker T. Washington Projects Old and New (and butterflies too!) Hello, hello Reader!! The second semester is in full swing for all us students, which means being insanely busy (heh heh) and also the fact it's exactly seven days till I get the wrap on whether or not I got accepted into the middle-grade anthology. 🤪 But I don't want to just lie around twiddling my fingers before I can get you a proper announcement...
"It is only when we are no longer fearful, that we begin to create." ~ J.M.W. Turner In Which I Answer Questions Well, hello there Reader!!
