In Which I Answer Questions

Well, hello there Reader!!

I know, I don't usually wake you up in the middle (well technically the end) of the month, but I have a special interview for you all....

*cue drumroll*

...in which I answer questions!!!! from my friend Maya Pawley for this thing going around called the Sunshine Blogger Awards. Thanks so much for nominating me, Maya!! (pssst, and here's the link to her blog, if you haven't seen it already)

I bet you're absolutely dying to hear my answers, so let's get this thing rolling. πŸ˜‰

1. What's your favorite book-based movie?

This is kind of a boring answer, but I'd have to say The Lord of the Rings. I think they did a good job of not altering the story wayyy too much and keeping the whole spirit of it. (Which is lucky, cuz that trilogy is a big thing for good reason πŸ˜‚)

2. Do you have a favorite time of day to write?

Usually, I end up writing in the afternoon, but the evening is my all-time favorite. That's the time of day I usually feel the most inspired and motivated to write. The downside though is that I can end up getting to bed pretty late. πŸ˜…

3. What are some of your favorite Christmas traditions?

Thanksgiving is usually a bigger thing for my family reunion-wise, and so on Christmas we usually end up just chilling out at home and not doing anything very original. Although the fact we slow down a lot and just get to be together as a family is definitely my favorite part.

4. What's one of your favorite books?

Ya'll already know about my obsession with A Wrinkle in Time...but The Wingfeather Saga by Andrew Peterson has also affected me in so many ways and gone right up there with my favorites. It's so deep and gets dark at times but the author makes it very quirky and full of love as well...it's addictive haha.

5. Do you prefer writing by hand or on a computer?

Usually a computer, since it's a lot faster (plus my hand gets really, really tired) but I love writing by hand when I'm brainstorming and outlining my stories. Ideas flow a lot better, plus it's hard to get distracted.

6. If you could meet any fictional character, who would it be?

Why is this so hard...*facepalms* I think I'd honestly love to meet Anakin Skywalker during the Clone Wars (don't ask πŸ˜‚), or a certain charrie a friend of mine created by the name of Jek *winks at you-know-who-you-are*. Or Liona my MC from Mountain of Secrets, if she doesn't wanna kill me for all the trauma I put her through.

7. How long have you been writing?

On and off as long as I can remember...but it was only sometime during 2023 when I started consciously working on a novel. (Shoutout to all my Grow Magazine peeps who read with my serial story about chipmunks on Noah's Ark...thanks so much guys!)

8. Do you prefer writing in first-person or third-person?

First person by far, since I love the insight it gives readers into the character's mind. Plus, I'm really bad at creating similar depth when writing in third person...working on that lol 😜

9. Coffee or tea?

I have only one thing to say...COFFEEE. I'd get addicted if my parents let me lol. And if anyone mentions the word ICED coffee...*looks around thirstily*

10. Who are your top three favorite authors?

I'd say Andrew Peterson, Madeline L'Engle, and Kara Swanson. Their writing is always so raw and deep and beautiful πŸ’–

11. What's your favorite thing about blogging? (or email list haha)

I love the fact I can connect with my supporters and friends directly, and I love sharing my work with you guys!

Soooooo that's all folks!! Happy New Year to all of you πŸ’• I can't wait to see what this next year brings.

-Love, Sophia
