More About ✨ ANTHOLOGIES✨

"A poet is a liar who always speaks the truth." ~ Jean Cocteau

So, What's All This About Getting Published??

Happy March Reader!

I hope you survived last month alright...now we're in the final stretch before SUMMERRR.

I've had some big things happening in my life like getting braces on, starting to babysit to earn some extra cash, and completing my second debate at homeschool co-op!! So yeah, lots going on there. 😄

On the writing side, after all the drama and excitement of last month (hehehehe) there really isn't too much to tell. However, I do have some more info to give you on the anthology + my short story, a book release, plus a lil' snippet from Wild Things to keep you going 😜

❤️First...the anthology ❤️

The anthology is being put together by a Ydubs friend of mine, and I'll be privileged to share the pages with at least six other young authors; Haniah Duerksen, Jessie Childress, Margaret Pierce, Hannah Ramirez, and Bethany Snow. I've read a few of their stories and I can tell you you're in for a treat.

As for the theme of the anthology, it is growing up and valuing childhood (which I was able to help come up with yayyy).

It's aimed at ages 8-14, but I know tons of people who ain't stopped reading middle-grade fiction after that age so there's no limit really. 😆

Now since you're probably screaming for me to tell you the date it comes out...

Twill be in the fall publishing season this year, so sometime around September-December. But I'll have lots of exciting stuff coming up before that like the opportunity to join our street team, see the cover reveal, and PREORDERS!!! 😎

Now for some info about my story in particular...

🌛 Goodnight Moon 🌜

If you're guessing that's the title of my short story....

Yes. Yes, it is. (help I'm getting a bit too predictable now *dies*)

This is a lil' scary short story about a stormy night, a real estate purchase gone wrong, and a 13-year-old battling for a better life for her family. ✨

Here's my work-in-progress blurb for more info....

Welcome to the mansion where your greatest nightmares come true, and your dreams hang in the balance of a child’s game.
On second thoughts, after everything her family’s been through this year, Abby should have been smarter than to believe moving into the old mansion would be the answer of all their problems.
Though even her dreamy little sister couldn’t have imagined it would come to a conclusion on this night-of-all nights with mom in the hospital, a storm raging outside, and countless dangers lurking within.
If she can beat these ghosts at their own game, her family will finally own the 'castle' they've always wanted. If not, she'll lose the person she loves the most.
The only thing for certain is she is not going down without a fight.

Don't worry, it's not THATT scary mwahaha *presents parental-badge-of-approval*.

I'm nearly at the very final draft after going through beta readers AND sending it off to a professional editor (if you're looking for one, I highly recommend L. Taylor, she's awesome).

🎉 A Book Release 🎉

Finally, your first 100 words from what might be the first chapter of Wild Things *bows*

A phoenix? A fairy?
No, just a freak.
And a monster.
Reagan gritted her teeth and braced herself against the bathroom sink to keep from collapsing.
She only dared glance up for second to catch a glimpse of the red-gold butterfly wings flickering behind her shoulders.
I can’t go on like this, she thought, I can’t go back to that classroom. They’ll find out, they’re sure to find out...
She froze as the bathroom door opened and whirled around to face whoever was entering.
“I’m sorry!” She burst out. “Please don’t tell, I’ll be dead if you….”
The girl raised an eyebrow.
Don’t look at me, please don’t look at me!
“What did you do?”
Raegan stole a quick glance behind her.
Thank God...the wings were gone.

I hope you're intrigued mwahahahaha 😎

Finally, to jump topics, here's the link to my mini blog/website where you can catch up on past emails and snippets and also (eventually) links to Amazon, books, merch, and all that stuff! I'll be adding the link at the bottom of each email, but here it is if you'd like to check it out now!
